Types Of Computer Networks
Computer network computers and its peripherals are a set, which is connected together to share the resources. Computers can connect to each other through wire media or wireless media.
Generally, the network is classified based on their geographic duration -
1) LAN (Local Area Network):
LAN-Local Area Network |
Local Area Network (LAN) This is a computer network, which connects the limited area computers such as home, school, laboratory, or office building using network media. There may be hundreds of computers in this LAN from some computers.
LAN Users are a useful way of sharing resources between them. In this, resources like printers, file servers, scanners, and the internet can be easily shared between computers. It can be done in LAN Wire, Wireless or both.
The most popular local area networking protocol is Ethernet today.
2) MAN (Metropolitan Area Network):
WAN- Wide Area Network |
The area of a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) is larger than the local area network, which covers the area of the city or large campus. It is used by big organizations to connect all their offices within a city.
The Metropolitan Area Network simultaneously links many LANs to fiber optic cable and provides services similar to the Internet Service Provider for a wide area network and the Internet.
2) WAN (Wide Area Network):
Man-Metropolitan Area Network |
Wide Area Network (VAN) This network covers a wide area, in which there is a link to any telecom network across metropolitan, regional, national or international borders. In this, telephone system, fiber optic cable and satellite link or lid lines are used to link. The internet is also a van which is the largest van in the world.
